Before visiting
please familiarize yourself with the location of the scenic spots and check the
map.
First stop: Erziping
butterfly watching trail. This is an ideal spot
for a family trip, safe and fun even if it rains in the company of family.

There are two
wheel-chair accessible bathrooms at the right-hand side of the Visitor Center.
These are spacious enough to accommodate one wheelchair and a companion.

Rest pavilion → Erziping; total distance 1.8 km, average gradient 2-8 degrees;
entire journey takes approximately 80 minutes (round trip).
I use a
manually-operated wheelchair and it took me about 20 minutes to reach the first
pavilion from the trailhead. I got tired after that. This is a good place to
take a short rest, drink some water and have a snack before continuing on the
journey after enjoying the surrounding scenery.

When the weather is good Erziping is a great
destination for a half-day family trip. This is my second visit, the last time
I came it was a sunny autumn day. You can picnic, chat, sunbathe and appreciate
the silver grass. It’s very relaxing and the toilet is also easy to use. I
highly recommend a visit.
This trip was a
little demanding but manageable for me as a manually-operated wheelchair user.
It would be quite easy for a visitor with an electric power trike or electric
wheelchair. However, in the event it rains wheelchair users need to be careful
about the slippery conditions. As I did not wear gloves on this occasion it was
a little hard to push the wheelchair and I needed help when going downhill.
Next, we are going to
drive to Zhuzihu.

accessible bathroom in Zhuzihu Ponlai Rice Foundation Seed Field Story House
Zhuzihu area- this
area is quite accessible to manually-operated wheelchairs, though users need to
be careful and stay safe during holidays and weekends when there is more
traffic. Generally speaking, restaurants in this area here are accessible.
However, only Zhuzihu Ponlai Rice Foundation Seed Field Story House has a
wheel-chair accessible bathroom.
After our meal we
headed to Sulfur Valley Recreation Area for a hot spring bath.
There are about 4
wheel-chair accessible parking spaces here.

Sulfur Valley
Recreation Area: the hot spring foot spa is accessible to manually-operated
wheelchairs and visitors can relax here. This is not a big place but is good
for a short stay. As the wheel-chair accessible ramp and facilities are still
under construction, it’s not easy for wheelchair users to move around and
sightsee. It is safer for wheelchair users to sightsee in the area with the
help of family or friends.

Please remember:
1. Erziping Visitor Center serves dry food
and simple hot snacks. Visitors are advised to bring their own food so they can
picnic on the lawn if the weather is good.
2. Food is not sold in Sulfur Valley
Recreation Area. Visitors with diabetes should remember to bring snack with
them to avoid hypoglycemia.
3. Manually-operated wheelchair users are
advised to bring gloves with them because that will make it easier to push the
chair on a foggy or drizzly day. Also bring a small towel to wipe down the
wheelchair push handles.
